Rotary Club of Northbrook
About the Rotary Club
Our club is dedicated to helping people that are in need both in our community and across the globe. We build fellowship through service to our community. Rotary was founded in Chicago in 1905, and currently has over 35,000 clubs and about 1.2 million members around the world. Rotarians strive to build international relationships, improve lives and create a better world to support our peace efforts and work relentlessly to end polio forever. In trying to achieve these objectives, we focus on seven areas of service:
- Promoting peace;
- fighting disease;
- providing clean water, sanitation, and hygiene;
- saving mothers and children;
- supporting education;
- growing local economies and
- protecting the environment.
Our members contribute in many ways – by planning and participating in fundraising events, by donating their time for various community projects and for other necessities (such as blood donations, mentoring young people, and delivering food and clothing to the needy), and through personal financial contributions.
